Our story

Kept for the land, since 1949

The ranch came into our family in 1949. It was bought to keep a piece of the Hill Country natural, for the deer, the birds and everything else that lives here, and that is what it has been ever since. Generations of the same family have kept the fences, the trails and the live oaks, and watched the creek and the ponds fill and empty with the weather. Deer play in the fields, turkeys move through in large groups, coyotes live down on the creek, and our cows rotate pastures through the year.

We want to share it. Opening the gate, now and then, to the right events, tests, films and stays lets other people see what we see, and helps keep the land as it is. Everything we host is planned around the wildlife and the ground first.

A mix of everything the Hill Country does

Hills & trails

Complex terrain with climbs, drops and a network of trails through the woods. The best sunset views are from the high ground.

Fields & pasture

Flat open fields and pasture with long sightlines, studded with large live oaks. Room to build a course or a set.

Creek beds & ponds

Creek beds with gravel crossings and cut banks, and ponds that fill with the weather. Water crossings and reflections.

Woods & the gate flat

Wooded ground for shade and cover, and a firm flat by the gate for trucks, trailers and base camp. Paved road to the cattle guard.

Paved road to the gate

The ranch is at 1530 County Road 284, Liberty Hill, TX 78642: about 40 minutes from downtown Austin and 35 miles, about 40 minutes, from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. A gate code is sent once a date is confirmed. Transporters and trailers are welcome; the gate flat takes articulated rigs.

Since 1949. It was bought on purpose to keep natural land for wildlife, and that is still how it is run.
Is the ranch open to the public?
No. It is private and shared occasionally, upon request, with one project or one couple at a time.
